My son in law had a transit flight from New York JFK to Croatia(non shengen country) with connection in Paris CDG airport. Employees of the airline company in NY did not allow him to register for the flight because he is Russian and didn't have Shengen Visa, he had 2nd flight on different airlines and they said that "they even don't know that airline". I had 3 confirmation from the airport that terminals 2a and 2d( where was the connection) have a transit zone and he doesn't need shengen Visa because his final destination is not a shengen country. But the company, citing its sources (without names), claims that he needed a visa.
