My parents opened a UGMA , for my estranged older sister , with inheritance from my father's grandmother. After I was born they created a UGMA for me & split the money 50/50.
I was the victim of a violent crime as a child in 95. Someone recently made a comment to me about what happened to my money.
After a bit of digging I learned my parents had sued my attacker & there was a settlement. My mother said since she split the funds previously , from the inheritance, it was only fair that the money go to my sister to recoup the funds split from her account. My father said he disagreed but my mom did it anyway. She deposited the entire settlement into my sister's UGMA. Can I sue my sister? I want my money back because I think she's been unjustly enriched by my misfortune.
