In December my landlord tried to evict me and lie about how much rent I owe her. I lived in what I thought was a duplex for 10months. She called code enforcement to inspect her home so she could male it into a duplex. Code enforcement said she is in code violation doesn't have a permit to occupy residence and condemned my home. She is not trying to sue me for back pay of rent owed. Her son keeps harassing me telling me I have to give them the keys I have to move out and keeps calling my parents trying to bribe me into giving up the keys so they don't take me to court what should I do
Call Code Enforcement and ask what the exact status of the home is, and what it all means to you. "Condemned" implies the house is red-tagged, but the rest of the facts don't seem to indicate that is true. Code Enforcement should be able to tell you what you are required to do by Code Enforcement (if anything). If you are required to vacate due to Code Enforcement action, you might have a right to relocation assistance. Call the County Bar Association and ask if they have a Housing Justice Project in your County. Use their services.
