I have opened a small furniture store in Dec 2018.
After a month I opened the store to find a water leak inside coming from the rood , and im sure its because of snow melts and rain
The damage was approximately $3,000 worth of merchandise with the computer and equipments
I told the landlord and he refused to pay for the fix and offer me only a free rent ($800) and he said that he fixed the problem
After two weeks we had rain and the problem happened again cost me another shutdown and loses
When I told the landlord he start calling me names that im trying to hustle him and ask me to leave the location
I asked to get my deposit back and he refused because of an electric and gaz bills still under his name
Currently he shutdown the electric and gaz from the store and not willing to get me my deposit back or payb for the business lost ( merchandise and wages )
Should I sue him to force his insurance to pay for my loses ?
You should hire a lawyer familiar with landlord tenant matters to assist with an insurance claim and lawsuit if necessary.
