My right arm broke just below a bone tumor. I was taken to the hospital by ambulance and had x-rays showing the break. I was admitted to the hospital on a sat. night. I had a planned surgery on my right shoulder in 6 days. My doctor made me lay there in the hospital for 5 days until the day of my surgery. I was in a lot of pain for those days and was put on IV pain meds, but nothing helped. I let the staff know I was in a lot of pain but they would not do anything as far a doing surgery sooner. A break near a bone tumor is very painful and I feel that I was made to suffer for those 5 days for no good reason. Just wondering if I have any recourse and if I should file a law suit. ty
I am sorry to read of your troubles and your suffering. You certainly can file a complaint with the hospital administration. I would also encourage you to have a conversation with the orthopedic surgeon who made you wait five days before surgery. However nothing in your post suggests a basis for a viable medical malpractice lawsuit. Medical malpractice claims are predicated on substantial, permanent injury to justify the inordinate expense of prosecuting such a claim. Five days of suffering while awful, may not meet the threshold. Best of luck to you.
