My boss was sitting in my office the other day with myself and two of my co-workers. She repeatedly called me a homo in response to my reply to a question she asked. The first time she said it I told her it wasn't appropriate, and then jokingly said she had a lawsuit on her hands. After this, she proceeded to call me a "homo" again. I am a straight male, and while I don't think she said it out of hate, it definitely bothered me. Do I have a case? My employer is a very large nation-wide bank, and they have very little tolerance for such instances... I'm not sure of my next steps to get it to stop.
I would document your complaint through your company's internal process. They are required to at least attempt to alleviate the situation.
Depending on what transpires afterwards, will be an indicator as to how to proceed. With that said, I would suggest you use an experienced labor and employment attorney to craft your complaint.

I agree with Mr. Tan that you should formalize your discomfort. However, you should be careful how you express yourself. You do not want some one to reply with the assertion that you are a homophobe. You want to make it clear that as a heterosexual person you found the assertion as upsetting as you are certain any non heterosexual person would find being called "straight". This person's comments also need to be addressed as they were intended to be derogatory to you which is evidence of an inappropriate bias on the part of the speaker.
