My sister and I were raised in a very abusive household. As a result we both have serious psychological issues which have made it extremely difficult to hold down jobs. In addition, our father hardly ever took us to the doctors so now we have thousands of dollars in medical bills for issues that could have been resolved while under his care, and wouldn't have cost nearly as much. Is there any action at all we can take against him?
Depending on what the nature of the abuse was there may be a basis to sue. Not taking you to a physician is unlikely a basis upon which a recovery is likely. Confirm with local counsel.
Abuse undocumented may be difficult to prosecute now and you may be facing a statute of limitations hurdle. But speak with local counsel to be sure.

The statute of limitations may have run on your claims. Moreover, recovery may be difficult because in Texas a significant portion of the average persons' assets are protected from seizure. In cases against where a person is liable it may also be possible to declare bankruptcy and delay or minimize recovery.
