I just had someone from Duke energy walk into my home without knocking on the door to read my meter... The meter is located in our Master Bedroom (used to be family room).. the old owners of the house had given them a key. The first time this happened was understandable. I called Duke after the first time and told them I wanted the key back (which they gave me) and not to have this happen again. This time the meter-reader just walked in the door... not knocking ... no announcing himself... no nothing... my wife walked out of the bathroom to a strange man standing in our bedroom... (scared her to death) what can I do legally? isn't this breaking and entering into my home? especially after having called them already once before about this situation..
