I bought a laptop from newegg for about $1200. The company said that I had a three year warranty, but now when I go to use it they tell me that I didn't have the 3 year warranty on it. And the website that they want me to use to check the warranty wont let me sign up. Whenever I try to make an account and press register the page just refreshes and wont let me register. I feel like this was done so I cant use the warranty that I paid for.
You should review the paperwork that may have come with the laptop you purchased. If the warranty information is there, review that in particular. If you still believe that you were sold something other than what you paid for, figure out what the cost is to you (how much will it cost you to have the laptop repaired? is this repair within a 1 year warranty or only a 3 year warranty? Who manufactures the laptop -is there a warranty from the manufacturer? If you paid for the laptop with your credit card, does your credit card offer you any relief based on the issue you're experiencing (maybe reimbursement for the warranty you purchased but never received? or damage to a new purchase made on your card?)? While taking the seller to small claims court may be one solution to your problem, there may be a pre-litigation solution that will help and won't cost you time, uncertainly, or a court filing fee.
