I went into Wells Fargo to close my bank account with them probably 3 months ago. I have since then been receiving calls and mail saying I owe them $600+ on a credit card. I have applied for credit cards with them, but have been denied, so when I found out about this credit card balance I was surprised considering I have never physically received a card from them, let alone activated one. The worst part is that this is negatively affecting my credit score and as a college student I need to be able to apply for loans and etc.
My dad mentioned that it may be an option and financially beneficial to sue them with a class action case. However, he is not a lawyer so I am curious to what my legal options may be.
You will need to consult with an attorney but you will also need more information. Can you get a copy of the application? Have you asked them when the card was opened and what the charges were for? You may have a case but more info is needed.
