My family moved to US and will apply for an asylum. I am 18 and i go to college in my home country, Turkey. And i want to study in the US and live with my family. They are planning on adding me to the asylum application later. But do i even count as an international student if i apply for an asylum? Also can i go to college somewhere outside Maryland?
You may attend college in the U.S. while your family's asylum application is pending. Simply adding you to an asylum application does not give the right to come to the U.S. You would not derive any ability to enter the U.S. unless the application is approved. Once your family files for asylum, you will likely not be able to obtain a student visa as you will be found to have immigrant intent.
