We have been divorced for 3 years and my ex will file cases against me for none payment of something in small claims court against me, then I will email her an image of the check. She will say ok case is off but if I don't show up and she does there will be automatic judgement against me so I am forced to show up. Now she is filing a contempt of court order against me because according to the stipulation of divorce I have to maintain a life insurance policy listing daughter as beneficiary. I have not changed or adjusted the life insurance since I got he policy. It was not mandated during preparation of the divorce settlement. Now Three years after finalizing divorce she asks for proof the insurance is in effect. I take a screen shot she is not satisfied, hires a lawyer. I sent more and more information and pdf files. They are asking me to send policy declaration page. Insurance company will only send it to owners address. I explain and said i can overnight it to her after i receive it. They say no, must come directly to her from insurance company or else they will go to court. the date already set. financially I cant afford a lawyer she is harassing me with this
You may have a few options. I strongly suggest that you schedule an in person consult with an attorney to discuss this matter. You need to leverage him, and push back so he understands that his actions will have consequences.
