I am an asylum applicant. My work permit has expired. Immigration court has postponed my individual hearing till 2018. Application for renewal of work permit has been denied due to the incorrect fees. Am I able to continue to work? Or do I have to wait for a new ED card. Thanks for your time.
If you work without authorization, or falsify documents with an employer to get work, you could be subject to sanctions including denial of your application and removal proceedings.
It is unlawful for one to work without having work authorization. I would suggest you correct your renewal application as soon as possible. If you have a pending asylum application, it would be wise to speak with an attorney (if you haven't done so).
