I need to serve a divorce documents to a person, I have two address and both are apartment complex, I looked on the directory on the building and her name does not appear on the list of resident, all my mail and sheriff service has been return for the same reason (can't find her name). Could the lease Agent help me if I ask if the person is a tenant in the building complex? or it is against to some code of privacy?
It's not against the law to provide this information, but I would hope that an apartment complex would not release this information about a tenant easily.
It never hurts to ask..
You asking the Leasing agent is not improper, however their providing that information is probably improper on their part. The problem is that even if they give you the name, when you have the sheriff serve them, they will still have the original problem of not finding their name on the apartment.
