7 years ago I pleaded guilty under misdemeanor 273a(b) after teaching my stepdaughter self defense. I accidentally left a mark, totally my fault. I did 3 years probation, 52 weeks anger management and 2 parenting classes. I'm now trying to be a police officer no gun no job in PD. Will 273a(b) prohibit me from purchasing a firearm in the state of CA?
PC 273a(b) is not listed under California's 10 year firearm ban for certain misdemeanor convictions. However, in order to be sure, a person may request a personal firearms eligibility check (PFEC) from the California Department of Justice. Check with them first and then go from there.
