How do i handle this health insurance issue. Work for a union roofing company and in Aug 2016 became eligible for health insurance through the union after 1500 hrs worked. Plan costs 946 a month; company pays 2.25 an hr towards plan. Working 140 hrs per month X 2.25 equals 315 leaving me with an unaffordable balance of 631. Ok, no problem I'm on Obamacare and get a premium tax credit of 74 a month in 2016, leaving me w/an affordable balance of 165 a month (for 2017 it is 38 a month tax credit leaving me with a balance of 241 a month). I'll just keep that. So I ask the union benefits administrator to bank up my insurance funds for future use. They say no; union rule states that when you have enough money in your fund they HAVE to enroll you in THEIR plan. Now the ACA (Obamacare) says that if you are at any time enrolled in another plan you lose your tax credits (900 for 2016). I'm 44 years old I can't have lapses in my health insurance. I don't have a problem with the ACA saying I can't be enrolled in another plan; I have a problem w/the union saying I have to be enrolled in THEIR plan which is unaffordable to me. Is there ANY legal action I can take against the union?
