Hello, My father has vascular dementia, and lives at a afc home(for over 5 yrs) he cannot live alone he needs assistance. He has his good days, and bad ones.He is allowed to go up town Croswell(bus). I have power of attorney for both med.&$fin. I give him money when he asks .recently he went up town and came back to the afc. home and within hours was admitted in the hospital with sepsis. He is in the hospital now. I found out he has 3 credit cards he, went to sec. of state.. and has his mail. going out to the afc home. We do all his banking,(mortgage) I told the owner of the afc home to hold his mail, and he said he could get in trouble for not giving him his mail( because I don't have guardianship) ..Dad took a 400 cash advance. !! THINGS ARE STARTING TO GET OUT OF HAND!! HELP!!
It reads like you will experience a lot worse. Thus, you would be wise to commence guardianship/conservatorship proceedings in the Sanilac County Probate Court. With that you can give EVERYONE notice, like credit card companies, that they can only deal with you——not dad. A probate lawyer is the best way to proceed.
