Can I have my 20 year old expunged misdemeanor (from 1995) receiving stolen property case transferred from LA County, CA to NC? The misdemeanor was for buying an $80 radio that I didn't know was stolen. It seems that NC is heading towards a law very soon that will raise the age of juvenile indiscretion. My goal would be to have the offense completely removed from my record under that law since I live here now. The reason being because I worked in banking for 15 years and was let go last year because of the offense and new strict mortgage laws. I have been unable to get a job now because I only know banking and they don't allow the offense, even if "expunged" because I was arrested and went to jail. So I need to get it OFF of my record completely.
NC has neither authority nor jurisdiction to expunge a charge or conviction which occurred in another state. Sorry- you need to discuss this with an attorney licensed to practice law in CA and if an expunction is possible, have it filed there.
No. You would have to handle this matter through California courts.
No. You would have to get the charge expunged in the county where you were convicted, thus LA. Speak with an attorney there.
