Please talk to a lawyer near you. You sound like an awful lot like an employee, not an independent contractor. No reason for you to be paying self-employment taxes when you were actually a full-time employee. Don't let the uniform detail dissuade you---it is how you spent your time and how much control they had over you that is dispositive. Get an attorney.

Heck, there is no room in my head for any other area of ***Illinois*** law---I have successfully fought my own parking tickets only because they put the instructions on the back. Generally speaking, you can be fired any time for any reason - regardless of whether you are a 1099 independent contractor or an employee. Based on your narrative, it seems like you may have been misclassified as an independent contractor and are really an employee. Depending on certain factors related to your work, this might entitle you to certain things that you were denied (especially with regard to payment of wages). Call an employment lawyer and get a consult. You might not have a case about the termination of your employment, but there may be a wage/hour case here. Make the call and find out.
I would consult with an attorney as to whether you were really an independent contractor or an employee. It is a very fact intensive inquiry and depends on your job duties.
Generally speaking, in Ohio all employees and independent contractors can be terminated for any reason, or no reason at all, provided the termination is not for a reason prohibited by law, such as racial discrimination, etc. The exception to this is where there is a written employment contract.
It sounds as though you believe the company's expectations were unreasonable. If true, that does not mean they cannot terminate your employment.
If you did have a written agreement, take it to an attorney to review.
