Can I get a u.s. passport although I have several unpaid traffic tickets but a clean background
Pay or deal with your tickets. it is never a good idea to move along security check points with ANYTHING pending on your record, including tickets. When crossing security check points you are at heightened danger of having your record checked and possibly facing some consequences. Plus unpaid tickets...depending on the type that are unresolved will eventually effect your ability to drive.
I agree with Attorney Love. I also recommend that you check to make sure that you don't currently have a warrant for your arrest. Some tickets such as super high speeds, reckless driving, or driving while license revoked can't be paid without appearing in court. If you missed court on one of those types of tickets and its been a while its possible to have a warrant out for your arrest. That would certainly prevent you from getting a passport.
