I was picked up by police on November 13th of 2017 on terrorist threats. While being booked prohibited person was added to my charges. It was moved to district in December 2017. I should have had trial before mid June and did not, making it beyond my speedy trial time. My public defender put in continuances without my consent. I bonded out may 25th of 2018. I didn't have a plea arraignment til the later part of august. I was told I'd get probation but now facing prison time. Is there anything I can do?
From the information you presented it is not likely that the motion to dismiss based upon a violation of the speedy trial statute will be successful. Tell your public defender to file such a motion and see what he tells you. He should be able to give you reasons that are understandable. If you entered into a plea in August that would toll speedy trial.
