Before dropping my girlfriend off we stopped blocks away from her place in her neighborhood to eat a meal we picked up. we were there for like five minutes and a cop came sirens and spotlights on my car. A home owner called police. He gave me a parking ticket since there was a no parking sign but i was in the car with it running, there are no fire hydrants or paint on the curb, there was a sign. Trust me, this is an absurd place for a sign. Can i fight this? It was no more than a half mile my form both of our houses and in a good neighborhood. It's almost 300 dollars. I feel it is really unfair because it's a public street and parking there causes no issue to traffic and does not block anything. The police officer said this neighbor calls police almost every night for people parking there.
You can always fight a legal action, the question really is whether there's a chance for success. There are many reasons why a parking ticket will be valid. There might be a specific city ordinance which prohibits parking Tim that area other than for the home owners, there could be time specific prohibitions and the like. However, I would be cautious about hiring an attorney for a parking ticket. The decision is made by a commissioner or appointed official. Legal arguments are rarely controlling and there are limited appellate avenues. Good luck.
