My boyfriend (fiancé) and I have been living together since April 2014. We have no children together. I start a new job this week but he's still looking for work. He should have a job within the next couple of months. In the meantime he is in school 3/4 time. I get food stamps and have him on my DPSS case because we live under the same household. When I do my taxes next year, is there any way either of us can claim one another as a dependant?
You may claim him as your dependent under “qualifying relative” if
a) The person (other than your spouse) lived with you all year as a member of your household;
b) The person had gross income of less than $4,000 in 2015, this would be a bit different for 2016; and,
c) You provided more than half the person’s total support for the year.
