A friend and co-worker asked me to help him buy a new pickup in October, 2017. I reluctantly agreed. I paid the down payment. He made payment #1 in December, missed payment #2, lost his job and was about to miss payment #3. I discovered this from Ford Motor Credit Co. and made payments #2 & 3 and contacted him asking him to surrender the truck and keys. He does not want to comply. Can I legally have a tow truck pick up the truck and take it back to the dealership to have keys made?
If you are listed as the owner of the car on the car title then you have as much right to possession of the car as the other listed owner.

You are both on title of vehicle and making payments. I am not sure what your "friend" is thinking. does your friend have an older sibling, parent or other authoritative figure that you can ask to intervene. This could be a situation where a "friendly" phone call from the police department to your friend, will let him know what his options are (and are not....)
You should search the internet for a commercial litigation attorney in your local area.
