I was living in an apartment with my sister. It has now been a year since then we both live in new apartments. My lease is up and I am currently trying to find a new apartment. But while doing this I discovered that our last apartment filed a "civil action of possession" against, which my sister hid from me. I am trying to figure what are options and if I am held responsible although she never informed me we were being taken to court, which she also did not attend.
Apparently, you and your sister were evicted...you may have left sooner...but if you were still on the lease, the landlord was required to evict both of you. The notice is posted on the property and mailed to the property, so I believe you that you were not informed...unfortunately, this is how the eviction process works. You just need to explain the situation to perspective landlords and speak to your sister about responsibility.
Mr. Love is correct. They are not required to notify each of you individually. Only one notice is required.
