Generally speaking, yes you can be held responsible for contracts that you sign unless they are illegal, against public policy or some other reason exists for invalidating it. But contract are typically enforced as written. However, given that yours involves a landlord / tenant matter, you may want to consult with an attorney who specializes in that area of law because perhaps that is the type of expense a landlord must cover and if so, you may be able to avoid paying for that.
