I was forced to resign or be terminated for unknown reasons. My supervisor stated that since I’m still within my first year of work/ probationary period they can fire me without reason. Where do I stand?
Georgia is an employment at will state. That means you can be fired for almost any reason or no reason at all, even if you have completed your probationary period. Your employer has done nothing illegal in terminating your employment unless it was done on the basis or your age, sex, race, religion, national origin, disability or sex or in retaliation for reporting some illegal. If you feel one of those things has happened, consult with a local employment attorney.
