I was late on January rent. Paid half on the 14 and half on the 30th. On the 30th I also paid $100 /$350 for the late fee. Its Feb. And I'm late again because I get paid every 2 weeks. So I'll have rent tomorrow but won't have the $250 or this late fee til the end of February. Can in be evicted in Missouri for the late fee?
You can be sued for rent and possession any time you don’t pay in full for a month’s rent. You won’t be “evicted” unless a judgment for possession is entered and the sheriff executes on the judgment. If you are sued and show up at court and tender all sums due, probably also including attorneys fees and court costs, you should be able to prevent a judgment. A better option would be to borrow a bit of money from a friend or family member if you can.
