My daughter was recently (self helped evicted)from the same set of duplexes I also live in.im letting her stay with me short term until she can finish moving out.My landlord is now threatening to evict me because my daughter is there.is this legal?
The answer depends on what your lease agreement says. Property owners may set limits on who and how long you allow another person to live in the rental unit. Also, even if you have a lease, the property owner can terminate the lease for cause, or even no cause. Contact a lawyer who practices in landlord/tenant law to have them review your lease and/or circumstances.
I'm licensed to practice law only in Utah and Idaho, and we've never met, so I can't give you "legal" advice. My answer is simply "friendly" advice based on my experience as an attorney in the states where I’m licensed, my knowledge of federal and common law, and common sense. Even if you are in Utah or Idaho, employment law questions are very fact specific, and based on the limited information you provided in your post, I can't give you legal advice, and my answer is intended as general information only. It doesn't create an attorney-client relationship.
