Can I ask the Defendant on the witness stand if he had liability coverage on the date of the accident? Is it okay for the Defendant to mention/admit that he had insurance?
It is not admissible as proof of liability in a negligence case. It may be admissible for other purposes. You need a lawyer.
Exchange of information through Avvo's Questions forum does not establish an attorney-client relationship with me. That relationship is established only by individual consultation and execution of a written agreement for legal services. My Avvo posts are based on limited information provided and are not intended as conclusive legal advice.
As a general rule you cannot. There are certain VERY limited exceptions.

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals.
