I have two girls from my previous relationship i was paying childsupport until recently i was let off from work i was trying to call childsupport office and tell them about my situation but they dont care they just want the money .I have two other kids that live with me and we are barely surviving . i m still paying the child support but not every month because i dont have steady income . What are my options?
Well let me start out by saying, I'm not licensed in TX, but only in PA. In Pennsylvania, you would file a petition to modify support based on your loss of your former employment. It may or may not result in getting the support amount lowered, depending on the circumstances. In general I'd say in most areas, as long as you are attempting to pay your support then they won't send you to jail. That is primarly the punishment for those who refuse to work or refuse to pay their support. Obviously it would be unlikely that you could make any payments at all if you were sitting in jail, so there isn't much benefit to the mother of the children for you to be sitting in jail.

You should immediately request a "modification review" with the child support enforcement office.
