I applied to change my status from OPT- F1 to J1 scholar in June. I still have not received a response. My problem is the hospital who applied for my J1 has been deferring my start date since then. I am afraid due to deferring of the start date my J1 would be denied. Since my OPT expired at the end of July and I only now have the 1-797 form.
Would my J1 get denied?
Also, a lawyer offered to help me with a green card request for NIW. If I apply for that is there a higher possibility that my J1 would get denied? What can I do right now?
Why not go back to your home country to get a visa? You can have that done much more quickly than waiting to see if this works out for you.
