Can an officer give me a ticket for blocking me in a handicapped parking space?
I was in an overcrowded Chick fil A parking lot and I had to hurry up and pull somewhere to get out the way (2yrs ago I got a ticket for obstructing other vehicles to pass) so I pulled into the handicapped spot just to get out of other cars way. Once I put my car in reverse to back out, a cop pulled up right behind me and blocked me in, so I thought he was coming to give me a ticket but he went to hold a 30 to 45min conversation with the girl next to me in the other handicapped spot. So as I'm sitting in my car waiting on him to come move his car, I put my uncle's handicapped tag on the rearview mirror and walked in Chick fil A to pick up his food. While I'm walking out of Chick fil A, I see the officer writing up my ticket. When I asked him why, he said because the handicapped person wasn't with me. I felt like I was set up because he knew I was in my car when he blocked me in but he never said anything to me until he was done holding his conversation with his girlfriend. Can I fight this or just pay the fine since I did put my uncle's handicapped tag up?
