Recently, I’ve had to take a leave of absence from my job due to serious marital issues. My employer was presented with the paperwork from my therapist, and contacted me the same day about attendance write ups. I didn’t recognize the phone number, so I sent the call to voicemail. My boss then left me a voicemail stating that I had a written notice and a 1 day suspension due to attendance. She stated a union representative was present and would be accepting my write ups on my behalf. I feel it is necessary to note that I have not received a verbal notice of breach in attendance policy.
you mentioned that you are in a union. I would contact them to see if this is a violation of the CBA.
