I recently quit my job due to poor management. They are now saying that there is missing money/payments. Can they hold my last paycheck or deduct from it for this accusation? I have spoken to mgmt several times stating i don't know what happened.
Generally, wages must be paid within the normal course of the company’s payroll cycle, and such payment must be unconditional. I’ve seen many employers withhold last paychecks for a variety of reasons. Many times employers are upset that you resigned and react by withholding your final paycheck.
You should contact a wage and hour attorney who should be able to help you.
