I have a mental disability that requires me to see a doctor monthly. I've had a recent health issue come up that has added more appointment days in a month. My manager has been very rude to me regarding these appointments, yelled at me and asked why I even need to be going to the doctor and what I'm being seen for. Is this legal? I have brought the mistreatment to HR but have gotten nowhere.
Sorry to hear about your situation. Consider following up with HR and make sure your concerns are documented.
I would suggest that you write a letter to your HR department, documenting your prior verbal complaint in addressing the fact that nothing has changed the period tell them that your medical condition is a private matter and you have no desire to discuss it with anyone. If your state has a Human Rights Commission or a similar body, you may want to touch base with them and file a complaint if necessary. You may also wish to contact the American Civil Liberties Union if you lose your job over this situation. Make sure you document everything in writing.
