I rented a living room set and paid on it for almost a year. My townhouse flooded and everything had to be thrown out. I did not have renters insurance. I informed aarons of what happened but was still deemed liable. I fell into hard times and was unable to continue payments. Four years later I get a call saying that I'm going to be arrested and charged. The number that called hung up on me after I stated I didn't have the property or the money to pay the balance today and now it won't accept my call back.
It is likely only a civil matter, but the events do not relieve you of your obligation to pay. Have you attempted to make any payment arrangements or considered the possibility of bankruptcy? I wish you the best.
