I had a hearing on March 15th I have not received an award yet but if I am approved can USDA take my back pay if any and can they take monthly benefit. I have been off work over 3 years per Dr orders and my son's have been paying the necessities. How USDA is wanting all the money I didn't pay over $22,000 I have no income so I can't refinance. Thank you
Branches of the federal government are allowed to take awards from other offices of the federal government because the federal government is generally viewed as one entity. You should however speak to a local bankruptcy attorney right away as there are exemptions that may be applied to the funds and the debt to USDA may be dischargeable.
