We received a 30 day notice from the tenant. In the letter, she indicated that she wanted to be paid interest on her security/damage deposit that she paid when she first moved in. I have never been asked for this before. Can she ask for interest? The only thing I can find regarding this is in Boulder, CO ordinances, however, my property is located in Denver. And if I do owe interest rate to I use to calculate it? The account that the damage deposit being held hardly pays any interest.
She can ask, but Mr. Leroi is correct - there is no requirement to pay interest on a security deposit under Colorado statutes.
