I got a quote from the roofing company for 15000. My insurance company said I had up to 20000 dollars in damage. The roofers quoted me 15000 but want to claim the whole 20000. Now that I won’t pay what they didn’t quote they want to take a lien out on my property.
If the property is your house, and you live there, then the home would be your homestead. The contract with the roofer likely does not qualify as a homestead mechanic's lien contract. If so, then the roofer would not be able to file a valid mechanic's lien on your homestead.
