Can a roofing company take a lien out on my property if my insurance company said not to pay for unsatisfied work?

If the property is your house, and you live there, then the home would be your homestead. The contract with the roofer likely does not qualify as a homestead mechanic's lien contract. If so, then the roofer would not be able to file a valid mechanic's lien on your homestead.
