they have called me threating to press felony criminal charges on me if i dont pay them half of the money that i owe. Now they talking bout i owe the 1500 dollars on the loan with added interest. Can they do this to me?
No. Luckily, the US has done away with "debtors' prison." I would I highly suggest contacting an attorney to see if the company has violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Good Luck.

No, they cannot have you arrested. In my experience, the collectors who engage in such over the top FDCPA violations are most likely scammers. While legitimate collectors can and do violate the FDCPA, I would be suspicious of this collector.
