We moved here from CT to NC. The landlord refused the rent and stated that we must pay the full amount even though upon signing our lease we were given a rent discount for the month of April. We refuse to pay the increase and now are facing eviction. All legal documents state that we owe the amount we intended to pay but the landlord insists on the full amount. I’m confused. Is this legal?
If you have a signed lease that states what April rent is, that is what the agreement is. If he attempts to evict, take the lease and proof you attempted to make that payment to court with you.
