Hello, I live in Syracuse. I recently got an emotional support dog. I went to my landlord to talk to him about keeping the dog in my apartment and he said no animals allowed and wants to charge me 1000 dollars to keep the dog for the year. I already signed the lease for the year prior to getting this emotional support dog but I was wondering if they can deny me my right to keep the dog or charge me an extra 1000 dollars to keep the dog for the year.
It sounds like your landlord is not being reasonable. You should look into finding a local lawyer that may be able to help with your situation.

I agree with attorney Soltis. There is federal and state law which applies to this situation.
