Just want to know the law
The age of consent in North Carolina is 16 years of age. If you have had sex with the child before he/she was still 15 then you are in a whole heap of trouble as this is considered Statutory Rape which is a serious felony and the "rape" aspect of that crime is not what you think. I 15 year old can consent to having sex with someone who is 4 years older the them and that older person would still be guilty of Statutory Rape since N.C. law states a person under 16 cannot give consent.
If you are thinking about having sex or have had sex with the other person after he or she turned 16 you cannot be charged with a sex crime. However, if you do anything that corrupts the 16 year old like drinking alcohol with them or bringing them around places where drugs are being taken or helping the 16 year old ditch school you can be charged with Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.
Long story short, find someone your own age. I am not judging here but a 23 year old and a 16 year old live and perceive life very differently. The 16 year old parents will most likely not approve of their child dating/having sex with someone who is 7 years older and able to buy alcohol.
