I brought my car to a mechanic in April for a complete engine swap because my car head broke. I paid 1.400.00$ down payment. Car was not worked on at all but left abandoned outside for months. I tried reaching owner on the situation but he keeps giving me false due dates. I requested for a receipt to verify that orders on parts is coming but mechanic is hesitant to provide one. I gave a warning but was disregarded by the mechanic so i filed a report on the Better Business Bureau and also the Department of Consumer's Affair. The mechanic failed to respond to the Better Business Bureau now my car still remains at the shop. The mechanic only recently decided to work partially on the engine after I informed him that I was going to take further actions. He took engine out but thats about it. When i went to check on the car there was alot of cosmetic damages to interior and exterior. He insisted I wait a little longer and continued giving me false dates. This continued for 3 months. Can i get my car and my money back? Is it suitable to sue the mechanic for unfair labor. I have proof of everything that happened.
I'd open a complaint with the BAR for starters and reassess after that investigation is done.
