I bought condo in Fulton county GA by paying cash. I have title insurance and copy of recorded deed. I would like to add spouse to deed. Pl advice what I would need to do - which forms to fill, where to submit the forms etc.
If you bought the property for case and hold it free and clear, preparing and filing a new deed will not be difficult. But, because of the importance of the document, this is not something that you should attempt to do on your own. I believe it would be well worth your time and a little money to engage an experienced real estate lawyer to handle preparing and filing the new deed. If you need a referral to someone who could do this, feel free to contact my office.

All you need is a Quit Claim Deed from yourself to yourself and your spouse. Its filed in the county real estate records where the property is located. But use a lawyer to draft it as there are some options depending on your situation, i.e. survivorship language, creditor issues for either party, etc. All in- less than 1 hour.
