I won the green card lottery on May 15th 2018 and would like to travel to the US for a month starting Sept 18 for my 30th birthday. Since my green card year is 2019 and it doesn't start processing files till October, would that make me okay to travel to the US? I just don't want to have my green card position taken away. Once I reach LA and go through customs will it come up that I have won the lottery?
Actually, you haven't "won" the lottery yet. Read the letter closely, you've been merely selected for further processing.
Depending on your number, you may not get the greencard.
I suggest you wait until you return to Australia before you fill in the DS-260.
