He will be required to continue paying child support in the same amount he was ordered until he files a petition with the court asking for a reduction because of him losing his job. Only then he will get a reduction if he did not lose the job through fault of his own. If he does not pay you your child support, you should file a petition to show cause (sometimes called a petition for rule nisi) and ask that he be ordered to pay your court costs and attorney fees.
