I am a beneficiary of an estate in NY that was once 13 million in which I was left 5%. There's so many issues with the executor & their lawyers I am in dire need of an attorney that I can trust & can help me stop them from delaying & creating enormous layer fees (over 2 million so far) They only distributed 3.5 million 2 years ago & there is now 5 left which they wont distribute. Unless on contingency I cant afford an attorney. Are there any programs out there for trust & estate law that doesn't require you to live in NY since I live in Florida or are there any lawyers out there that will work on contingency but will not do the same thing these lawyer have done. Someone that takes pride in going after unethical executors & attorneys? Someone who works from the heart more than for billing?
This estate seems so sizeable that I am surprised you cannot afford a lawyer. May be you can find a lawyer who can take it on a contingency basis. Please contact the State or Local Bar association for a referral to an attorney in that area. Most Bar Associations have lawyer referral services.
Given the size of the Estate I don't think you will find a pro bono lawyer. You should be able to find a lawyer to handle the case on contingency. I suggest that you try using the Find A Lawyer tab on Avvo.
