Are coupon clipping services legal?
In searching online Person X finds a service offered by Person Y, who is selling pre-clipped bundles of the coupon that Person X desires. The coupon has terms which state "void if sold, altered, reproduced, exchanged or transferred".
These services are widely available. They state that any payment is related to the handling of the coupons, and not payment for them. The belief the statement attempts to convey is that the coupons are not being sold, and so are therefore still valid.
Do these services violate the exchanged or transferred terms? Are those legally enforceable or just company policy? If it does violate the terms, is it illegal to offer these services? Is it illegal to purchase from them, or use coupons purchased from them?

Other than hiring a lawyer at your expense to review, research and answer such questions, these are idle curiosities. As a practical matter the terms of the coupon define their acceptance by the store and anytime you deviate from the standard of you gathering them yourself, you run the risk of controversy and unless you wish to fund legal action over controversy, best bet is to avoid it.
